Melbourne: Australia’s white ball captain Aaron Finch has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. The ODI series against New Zealand on September 11 will be Finch’s last.
With Finch announcing his retirement from ODIs, Australia will also be led by a new captain in the World Cup hosted by India next year. But Finch will lead Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup hosted by Australia this year.
Finch has been seen struggling to find form in ODIs in recent matches. The 35-year-old Finch scored only 26 runs in the last 7 innings in ODIs. Finch said he is announcing his retirement now because the new captain needs time to prepare the team for the next ODI World Cup.
