Finalist at Roland-Garros and at the US Open in 2022, Casper Ruud lost 6-3 7-5 6-7 (4/7) 6-2 to the 22-year-old American hopeful, after 3h55 ‘of game. He saved 3 match points in the 3rd set, at 5-3, but could not do anything in the 4th set against a player who armed 50 winning shots in total.
“Casper is a warrior, but I was confident in my game and came to give it a go. I am very proud of the mental strength I showed after losing the 3rd set“, commented Jenson Brooksby, who had revealed himself in the summer of 2021 by climbing to the round of 16 of the US Open.
