Andrey Rublev (No. 5) finally wants to break his quarter-final curse at the Australian Open – he was in the last eight of Grand Slams six times and failed six times.
In the round of 16, however, one of the up-and-coming young stars of the scene stands in the way of the Russian – Holger Rune is still without losing a set after his convincing performance against Ugo Humbert in his second Australian Open participation.
In 2022, the 19-year-old failed in the first round in Melbourne, but then advanced to the quarter-finals at the French Open – his greatest Grand Slam success to date. He had to endure a moment of shock after a fall against Humbert. Rune buckled his right foot and also needed a brief wrist treatment.
