Australian police have given thousands of protesters until the end of Sunday to leave the areas they occupy in the capital, Canberra, as protests have continued for days against the mandatory vaccination against the “Covid-19” epidemic.
A spokesman for the Australian Capital Region Police: Several thousand protesters did not leave their places in the main fairgrounds in Canberra, while less than 100 demonstrators gathered near the Federal Parliament building. No arrests were made in Canberra on Sunday so far, after three were arrested on Saturday.
“They should leave today,” the police spokesman said. He declined to say what action the authorities would take if the protesters refused to comply with the demands.
In the New Zealand capital, Wellington, demonstrators opposing compulsory vaccination against “Covid-19” gathered near Parliament for the sixth day, despite heavy rain and strong winds. Similar to demonstrations in Canada, protesters blocked several streets around Parliament with their trucks, buses or motorcycles.
Protests are still relatively small in the two countries, where most people support vaccination. Australia recorded 22,750 new cases of “Covid-19” in the past 24 hours, while the number of new cases in New Zealand almost doubled, reaching a record level of 810 cases.
