After its first House of Autonomy (MDA), avenue Paul-Montel, in the Moulins district of Nice-Ouest created last March, the departmental council inaugurated, this Friday, a new branch in the east of the city , at 21 avenue Maréchal-Lyautey.
This is the eighth in the Alpes-Maritimes – several already exist, particularly in the high country – and others should open in the coming months in Cannes, Antibes, Grasse, etc.
A merger of the Department’s solidarity centers and autonomy services, it is a resource place. A one-stop shop. A place that facilitates procedures for all elderly people and people with disabilities.
The idea? Simplify life
“When we are suffering, when one of our loved ones falls ill, when we are a caregiver, we are often faced with an administrative maquis, an obstacle course. Here, through a team of ten people, all skills are brought together to answer all questions, to guide those who need them as quickly and as humanely as possible.insisted the president of the finance committee of the departmental council, Éric Ciotti.
Who is this for?
“We welcome children with disabilities and their parents, adults with disabilities, dependent elderly people, isolated seniors, caregivers, professionals, home help services etc.”develops the departmental director of the House of Autonomy, Sébastien Martin.
What services?
Here we find welcome and listening. But also an assessment of needs and life projects, assistance in applying for benefits such as the personalized autonomy allowance (APA), assistance in compiling files for the recognition of disability, the AESH application for school children etc. As well as discussion groups, “relatives’ cafes” with an art therapist.
An essential issue
“Solidarity is an essential issue, our mission: in the department, today, 115,000 people are disabled and 25,000 elderly people benefit from the personalized autonomy allowance. In 2050, one Maralpin in three will be more than 65 years compared to one in four currently. The Department devotes a budget of 600 million to this”underlined Eric Ciotti.
