Avengers #1 Tops This Week’s Top Twelve Comics Bestseller List

Marvel’s Avengers #1 has shot to the top of this week’s comic bestseller charts, doubling the sales of DC’s Absolute Superman #25, thanks in large part to a blind bag promotion. The race for comic shop supremacy is fierce, with Marvel and DC splitting the top twelve spots evenly.

According to the Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, Avengers #1 is the best-selling comic book series in comic book stores this week. The chart is compiled from actual in-store sales data from 120 to 150 ComicHub-powered comic shops, tracking sales from Wednesday to Friday.

Avengers #1 Leads with a Strong Margin

Marvel’s Avengers #1 claimed the number one spot on the bestseller list. DC’s Absolute Superman #25 landed at No. 2, with sales at roughly half the ratio of Avengers #1. Batman #15 held the third position, with Absolute Catwoman #4 taking the fourth position. The top four comics saw significant sales, with Avengers #1 setting the benchmark at a 100.0 ratio, followed by Absolute Superman #25 at 50.7, Batman #15 at 46.7, and Absolute Catwoman #4 at 44.3.

A Balanced Week for Publishers

This week’s top twelve bestseller list shows a near-even split between Marvel and DC. Each publisher secured six spots on the chart. Following the top four, Marvel continued its strong showing with Infernal Hulk Vs. Infernal Hulk Vs. Spider-Man #1 at No. 5 and DNX #4 at No. 6. DC’s Demon #2 held the sixth position. Marvel’s Spider-Woman #1 and Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane #1 claimed spots eight and nine, respectively, with DC’s Absolute Batman #25 rounding out the top ten at No. 10.

The Data Behind the Rankings

The Bleeding Cool Bestseller List provides a snapshot of the direct market, reflecting sales from over a hundred participating comic stores, known as the “Wednesday Warriors.” These stores, primarily in North America and the UK, use Point of Sale services from ComicHub. The list ranks comics based on actual sales, not publisher orders, offering a clear view of what consumers are purchasing in-store each week.

Participating Comic Shops

The bestseller list is compiled from a group of 120 to 150 comic shops that provide their sales data to ComicHub. This group is a subset of the 1,800 to 2,000 direct market comic shops worldwide that use ComicHub for their Point of Sale services. These stores are typically considered mid-range and are located mostly in North America and the UK.
