An application has been submitted to Rospatent to register a new trademark, under which AvtoVAZ will produce cars at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg
The Russian automaker is creating a new brand under which Chinese cars will be produced under license. The brand name has not yet been officially announced, but now we can take a look at its logo. It is a stylized letter X, divided horizontally by a bar. The idea is a bit reminiscent of the emblem of the Chinese brand Xpeng, but the resemblance is only distant.
It is noteworthy that last June the former Nissan plant was renamed “Lada St. Petersburg”, and the X-Cross 5 model (aka FAW Bestune T77) was launched into production under the Lada brand, but subsequently the strategy changed: for future licensed new products they decided to create a new brand, and in November the enterprise received a new name – Avtozavod St. Petersburg LLC, and production of the Lada X-Cross 5 was curtailed without much fuss. At the beginning of 2024, it became finally clear that FAW had closed the cooperation project with AvtoVAZ.
Now two new products are expected from another, not yet announced partner – a crossover and a passenger model in the C/D segments.
The presented new trademark is registered for a wide range of goods. In addition to cars (including cars, sports cars, racing cars and unmanned vehicles), this brand can be used for caravans, engines, various components, as well as for souvenirs, Christmas tree decorations and sporting goods, etc.
