A woman with an ax prompted a major police operation at the train station in Wilferdingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The 25-year-old blocked the departure of a train to Stuttgart by stopping in the door area. A fellow traveler from Switzerland was able to overpower the woman.

Several travelers had asked the woman to let the train depart, the Federal Police Inspectorate in Karlsruhe announced on Saturday. She then reached into her backpack and pulled out a multi-tool, from which she unfolded an ax regarding 18 centimeters long.

Another 25-year-old man from Switzerland was able to disarm the woman immediately followingwards, it was said. He reportedly sustained an injury to his hand. The man held the woman down until police arrived.

Several patrols from the state and federal police and an ambulance crew were deployed. The 25-year-old woman was to be taken to a psychiatric facility following a medical evaluation. Investigations into grievous bodily harm were launched.
