A babysitter was arrested and accused of beating to death a 5-year-old girl she was caring for in a home in Utah, United States. At the time of the incident, she called the police and said that the minor had fallen from the stairs.
After the doctors arrived, they found her unconscious and with injuries “inconsistent” with the story the attacker had told. For this reason, officers arrested Cheri Lynn Marler, as she was identified, and charged her with murder and child abuse.

According to what the authorities reported, Annabelle, the victim, was taken by helicopter to a children’s hospital, although she died the next day due to the severity of her injuries.
On the other hand, Marler was questioned by the police and admitted to having murdered her. She even detailed that he hit her on the head between five and ten times, and that afterward she went to sleep. When she got up from her, she discovered that the minor was lying on the couch and that she was not breathing, so she became desperate and called the police.

An acquaintance of the attacker revealed that she had confessed that she “hated” the victim, that she “was fed up” with her and that she “just wanted to kill her.”
Finally, the autopsy results revealed that the girl died from beatings, as she had a large number of bruises and cuts all over her body.

Faced with the tragedy, the girl’s mother, Kayla Kartchner, made a post on her social networks to share her pain and anger: “I hope you get what you deserve in prison. My daughter died in my arms and you lied that she fell down the stairs. “We are devastated.”
Although the crime occurred in November 2022, the trial is scheduled for January 22. Meanwhile, Marler remains detained without bail.
