(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong A-Ran = Among the undergraduate transfer students from 10 national universities nationwide from 2015 to 2020, 8 students, including two children of the Minister of Health and Welfare candidate Jeong Ho-young, were working as professors at the same medical school.

Shin Hyun-young, a member of the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee, said at a press conference at the National Assembly on the 21st, “As a result of checking the status of parents of transfer students from 10 national universities over the past five years, there were a total of eight cases in which the parents of the transfer students were professors of the same medical school.”

By school, there were 1 Seoul National University Medical School, 3 Pusan National University, 1 Chungbuk National University, 2 Kyungpook National University (son and daughter of Candidate Ho-young Jeong), and 1 Gyeongsang National University.

Rep. Shin pointed out that “Chief Ho-young was the only candidate who transferred two children to the same medical school.”

He said, “It is possible for a child of a medical school professor to transfer to a medical school where their parents are working, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, there is a public interest in whether fairness has been properly observed in the admission process,” he said. He said he would investigate the current situation, including transfers to medical schools and general schools.

On the other hand, it was pointed out that Kyungpook National University Hospital received the lowest (C) grade for two consecutive years in the annual evaluation of emergency medical institutions conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Medical Center during the time when Chung was serving as the hospital director (August 2017 to August 2020). came out

According to data submitted from the Ministry of Health and Welfare by the Democratic Party’s Office of Assemblyman Koh Young-in, Kyungpook National University Hospital received a grade C in 2018-2019 and a grade B in the middle of 2020. The fine for negligence paid for reasons such as not meeting essential standards for emergency medical institutions and not meeting the criteria for designation of regional emergency medical centers was also counted as 6 million won.
