Baghdad.. Extinguishing two separate large fires in Karrada

In a statement received by Alsumaria News, the directorate stated, “Our teams succeeded in putting out a major fire incident that broke out inside a warehouse for electrical appliances, built of highly flammable sandwich panels, which violates the safety instructions issued by the Civil Defense Directorate in the Al-Masbah intersection in Karrada, Baghdad.”

She added, “The extinguishing process was carried out with the participation of more than 15 specialized firefighters and others with full crews, with the ladder wheel to fight the fire from top to bottom and prevent the fire from spreading to the warehouses adjacent to the burning warehouse site.”

And she pointed out that “as soon as the civil defense teams completed extinguishing the warehouse fire, another fire incident broke out in a restaurant and hotel in the five-storey (royal vessel) building with ground halls in the Karrada area, behind the Al-Alawiya office in Baghdad.”
She pointed out that “the teams mobilized and accelerated to carry out rescue operations through the dual-use ladder wheel, rescue and extinguish, in conjunction with the operations of extinguishing and cordoning off the fire inside the burning building, to carry out direct intrusions after which they succeeded in entering and completely extinguishing the fire with the participation of the same 15 fire brigades.”

And she indicated that “the civil defense teams completed extinguishing the two accidents without recording human injuries, while limiting the material damage. As a result, the civil defense requested to open an investigation in the police station responsible for the geographical area and summon the forensic expert to determine the causes of the outbreak of the two fires in the first place.”
