Bagnis and “Juanma” Cerúndolo expanded the list of Argentines to seven in the Río Open

Facundo Bagnis from Santa Fe and Juan_Manuel Cerúndolo from Buenos Aires agreed this Sunday to the main draw of the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and expanded to seven the list of Argentines who will play the Rio de Janeiro event starting Monday.

Bagnis, born in Armstrong and ranked 88th in the ATP world rankings, beat German Yannick Hanfmann 7/6 and 6/3 in the last round of qualifying and earned his ticket to the main draw.

Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (105), on the other hand, fell in the “qualification” against the Chilean Nicolás Jarry (136) by 6/2 and 6/3 but entered as a lucky loser due to the loss of Guillermo Coria from Rosario.

Bagnis will be the first of the seven Argentines to play when the main draw kicks off on Monday. He will face the Serbian Laslo_Djere around 6:00 p.m.

The other Argentine rackets are Diego Schwartzman, Sebastián Báez, Tomás Martín Etcheverry, Pedro Cachín and Francisco Cerúndolo.

The Rio Open will take place on clay courts, will distribute a total of $2,013,940 in prizes and will have Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, number 2 in the World, as the top favorite, who this Sunday won the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.
