World champion Winfried Yaffe presented a new gold medal to Bahrain, after winning first place in the women’s 1,500-meter race, while her compatriot Marta Juto won bronze at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

According to Agence France-Presse, Yaffe dominated the course of the race and imposed her superiority from the beginning, achieving a time of 4:11.65 minutes, ahead of India’s Harmilan Bains, who won silver with a time of 4:12.74 minutes. The bronze medal went to the other Bahraini woman, Yutu (4:15.97).

Yafi told the beIN Sports Network: “The race was wonderful, and I felt very good, and that everyone wanted to be in the front, but I said to myself: Why don’t I go and be in the front?” Because there are often a lot of female runners in front, so I had to be in the lead.”

She continued: “I think the plan is to know the strengths of my competitors, how they move, and to run quickly in order to be in first place.”
