The Kingdom of Bahrain exported regarding 7.3 million tons of iron ore to 9 countries with a total value of regarding $1.3 billion during the first nine months of the year 2023, which gives a clear indication of the success of the policy of enabling the private sector to export and access new markets.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came in first place in terms of receiving Bahrain’s iron ore exports with regarding 2.1 million tons worth $384 million, equivalent to regarding 29.63% of the total value of iron ore exports.
The United Arab Emirates came in second place, receiving Bahrain’s iron ore exports at regarding 1.5 million tons, worth $275 million, equivalent to regarding 21.45% of total iron ore exports.
The Sultanate of Oman came in third place with regarding 1.04 million tons worth $189 million, equivalent to 14.58% of Bahrain’s total exports of iron ores, then Egypt ranked fourth with regarding 1.03 million tons worth $163 million, equivalent to 12.58% of Bahrain’s total exports of iron ores, then Algeria with regarding 612 thousand tons worth $117 million, equivalent to 9% of total iron ore exports.
Libya imported regarding 524,000 tons of iron ore from Bahrain, worth $96 million, Malaysia regarding 278,000 tons, worth $33 million, South Korea, regarding 200,000 tons, worth $36 million, and Germany, regarding 99 tons, worth $22,000.
As for exports on a monthly basis, Customs Administration data detailed that Bahrain exported iron ore in January amounting to 726 thousand tons worth $128 million, regarding 511 thousand tons worth $96 million in February, and regarding 595 thousand tons worth $182 million in March. About 777 thousand tons worth $133 million in April, regarding 1.1 million tons worth $208 million in May, regarding 686 thousand tons worth $106 million in June, regarding 917 thousand tons worth $150 million in July, and regarding 836 thousand tons worth $152 million. One million dollars in August, and regarding 768 thousand tons worth $141 million in September.
