Pablo García’s team took the lead twice, with Kosta Aleksic (22′) and Hefte Betancourt (33′), but Traianos Della’s team with Marko Bakic as the protagonist responded with the same number of goals (27′, 75′).
The hosts lost the first good chance in the match only in the 6th minute. Stavros Petavrakis made the cross, the ball went past everyone and reached the feet of Aleksic who… was confused and missed.
A quarter of pressure followed for the Cretans, with Aaron Leia Iseka’s goal (13′) being disallowed as an offensive foul and Panagiotis Katsikas impressively stopping Bakits’ fireball (16′).
To follow the… quarter of goals. From an excellent vertical pass by Matias Tomas in the 22nd minute, Aleksic perfectly placed Nikos Christogeorgos to open the scoring for the “lions”.
Five minutes later, with the cooling break completed, Panagiotis Deligiannidis overthrew Adrian Riera. Vassilis Fotias indicated a penalty, the VAR (Tasos Sidiropoulos, Dimitris Vergetis) also agreed with him.
Katsikas initially had a disagreement, blocking Bakic’s execution, but in the restart the Montenegrin midfielder equalized.
The Serrai threatened with the shot of Petavrakis (29′) and the header of Tasos Avlonitis (31′) to finally reach 2-1 with Betancourt’s header. The second half started with chances on both sides.
The deflected, left-footed shot of Tomas (48′) went past the right post of Christogeorgos’ goal, Katsikas blocked Loukao’s header (50′) while… he was imitated by the goalkeeper of OFI in the attempt of Alexics (51′).
From then on, the pace of the match dropped, as a result of the many changes made by the two coaches. A shot by Amr Ward (61′) did not find the target, as did another (yet) header by Lukao (70′).
Fast forward to 75′, when Santiago Mosquera sent in a falling cross, with Bakic finding the ball perfectly for 2-2. Score remaining until the final whistle. Thus, three games before the end, Panserraikos rose to 32 points and OFI to 31, having a distance of eight and seven points, respectively, from the penultimate Panaitolikos who play a little later in Kaisariani (20:00) against Kifissia.
