The Game Awards 2022 served as the stage for the presentation from the new trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3. The role-playing title from Larian Studios, which is currently in the Early Access phase, showed two legendary characters from classic games. In addition to the return of Minsc and Jaheira, the developer announced that it would reveal all the information about patch 9 at the From Hell: Holy Knight Panel, which just ended.
During the streaming, Larian has brought to light the name of the actor who will play Minsc in this third installment. Jim Cummings, who voiced the character in the BioWare video games, will not reprise his role, as the chosen one has been Matthew Mercer (Dragon Age: Absolution, Overwatch 2, Marvel’s Midnight Suns).
Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 9 will allow you to level up to level 5 and will add a revamped Reactions systemall implemented after analyzing the feedback of the community. As if that were not enough, we can choose the Paladin class, always aligned with the side of good. Whether you have chosen the Pledge of Devotion or the Pledge of the Ancients, the ultimate goal is to act with justice. Otherwise, they will explore a more gray subclass, that of the Oathbreaker.
What’s New in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 9
New class: Paladin
Carrying a noble spirit and ardent reverence, the Paladin class is known for being able to pull off devastating combos in combat while providing protection and healing to other team members when needed.
Two subclasses:
Oath of Devotion: Preaching the ideal of the knight in shining armor, these Paladins will act with honor and virtue to protect the weak and seek the greater good.
- Holy Retribution: Call upon the power of your Oath to grant an ally a vengeful aura that deals 1d4 Radiant damage to any enemy that hits you with a melee attack.
Oath of the Ancients: The Paladins who walk this path fight with the eternal battle between light and dark always in mind, vowing to preserve the sanctity of life and the beauty of nature.
- Radiant Healing – Call upon the power of your Oath to let nature heal all nearby allies.
- Divine Scourge: When using a melee attack, you can choose to use a spell slot to deal radiant damage to your target in addition to the damage your weapon will deal.
Hidden Subclass: Oathbreaker
Paladins who deviate from their holy oaths become Oathbreakers, and they come with their own set of buffs and debuffs.
Embrace your newfound powers for good or evil, or begin the path of redemption.

Players can now level up to Tier 5 – this brings a significant power boost to all classes, and grants access to 3rd tier spells, like ‘Fireball’, to those classes with spellcasting abilities.
Revamped Reaction System
Reactions are a unique combat action that can be activated in various circumstances in combat – for example, a fleeing enemy in melee range can activate an Opportunity Attack.
Players can now choose whether or not to use a Reaction when a Reaction is activated, thus allowing for more strategic combat.
Volar
The ‘Fly’ spell can be used in and out of combat to do exactly that – fly. Spread your wings and fly to reach otherwise unreachable treasures, or fly out of range of your enemies.
