Released at the beginning of the month in its full version on PC, Baldur’s Gate 3 is already a real hit. The game from Larian studios has convinced fans of role-playing games and the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Immersed in a long epic, players will have to chart their own destiny, or see it fall to pieces thanks to a critical failure on the dice. As you will have understood, the production has many surprises in store.
Since its official release, the Larian teams have been working hard on fixes and patches to improve the adventurers’ experience. But while Patch 4 looked promising, it was quickly withdrawn from circulation, and some backups with it!
Where are the Patch 4 saves?
Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 4 went live on Steam on August 16th (yesterday). This is an update which main objective is to fix a number of issues such as “crashes, bugs, fluidity problems”. Although less important than previous patches, it caused many problems for its developers.
Indeed, and unfortunately for Larian studios, this update has caused new crashes. That’s why, shortly after its deployment, Larian “cancelled” it. If you saved your game during the brief time that Patch 4 was live, you will not be able to load these save files until the patch is re-released. This should not take long, and the Larian teams have assured that they are in the process of correcting the crashes in question. So your backup isn’t deleted, it’s just… somewhere.

If you’ve saved since the update, you won’t be able to load those saves until we re-release Patch 4. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
To clarify, we’ve reverted patch 3, so you can keep playing! You simply won’t be able to load today’s Fix 4 saves until it’s re-released. Our apologies”.

Over 1,000 fixes coming to Baldur’s Gate 3
Aside from that unfortunate rollback, this fourth patch is noteworthy because it will be the last before the release of the first full patch for Baldur’s Gate 3. The latter (if all goes as planned) will contain over 1,000 corrections and adjustments. After that, there will be a second patch which, according to Larian, “will incorporate some of the biggest requests we’ve received from the community since launch”.
We understand that Larian studios emphasize proximity to their community. Since the launch of the game, the company has listened to feedback from its players, and is now implementing patches and fixes that will improve the experience of adventurers, most of whom are already very satisfied. Currently, the game is among the most popular on Steam, and is the top seller on the platform. The Baldur’s Gate 3 trend is not about to run out of steam!
