The mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, has announced that he will sign an order banning the performance of Dieudonné. The comedian was to hold a performance of his show, “Sous Bracelet”.

Dieudonné is persona non grata in Toulouse. The mayor of the town, Jean-Luc Moudenc, signed this Tuesday, August 15, an order banning representation against the comedian, who should perform this Friday in the Pink City as part of the tour of his show “Sous Bracelet”.

A show already canceled in several cities

According to the elected official, Dieudonné’s primary objective “is the division of society and not the exercise of his former profession as an artist”. A sufficient objective in his eyes to cancel the representation of the humorist, qualified as anti-Semitic, in his city.

Still according to Jean-Luc Moudenc, “the ban is not an ideal instrument”, because the place of Dieudonné’s show was unknown. “However, I decide to use it to signify the unity and inflexibility of the Republican camp in the face of these provocations and gesticulations”, added the elected official to our colleagues from France Bleu.

Some municipalities have already canceled performances of Dieudonné in the past, like Montpellier. The mayor of the city of Hérault, Michaël Delafosse, intervened on August 5 for the cancellation of a show scheduled for a few weeks later.
