Bartolomey Bittmann: ten

The number “ten” stands for the highly virtuosic duo BartolomeyBittmann, which has existed for ten years. They experiment with new playing techniques for cello, violin and mandola and present progressive string art from Vienna in concerts in Austria and internationally in a breathtaking album.

The spectrum of the repertoire ranges from powerful rock riffs, virtuoso frenzied unison passages to intimate grooves and sensitive cantilenas. The instruments are not only played – notably without electronic aids – but also make the players curious about the stories and emotions that the instruments tell them. In this way, each time a new work is created on the level of improvisation, and each concert has its own dynamics, its own energy.

Any kind of generation of sound vibrations is allowed, whether only by mere bow swings in the air or the “well-known” corpus tapping. How the own creations are titled is irrelevant and not very characteristic of the origin (“Turbohecht”, “Harnoncourt”, “Dynamo”, “Altaussee”).

The admirable practice of art will last forever and is planned as a long-term project. As a result, their musical statement is constantly re-checked and further specified. So then with unbridled strength and physical as well as mental vigor with the best wishes for the next decade of an incomparable string duo.
