The Milwaukee Bucks got their next win in the NBA despite their superstar’s injury. The Clippers duel with the Kings turned into a spectacle – with an unbelievable 351 points in one game.
The Milwaukee Bucks have continued the longest winning streak by an NBA team this season after the All-Star break — despite an early injury to star player Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The clear 128:99 (73:56) against the Miami Heat on the night of Saturday (02/25/2023) was the 13th win in a row for the Bucks. Antetokounmpo was injured in the first quarter and retired with a knee injury. The Greek had four points, rebounds and assists each in six minutes on the court.
“Got to stop him from himself”
“Sometimes you have to stop him in front of himself so he misses a few games, knowing we’re fine”said Jrue Holiday, the top scorer of a balanced Bucks team with 24 points against Miami. “I know he doesn’t like that.”
Antetokounmpo recently sprained his wrist, which is why he only made one attacking pitch as captain of his selection in the All-Star Game. The Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference, just one win behind the Boston Celtics.
Randle leads Knicks to victory
Also on course for the playoffs are the in-form New York Knicks. Led by Julius Randle with 46 points, the Knicks won 115-109 at the Washington Wizards. National player Isaiah Hartenstein converted his two shots and contributed four points, ten rebounds and two ball wins to the fourth win in a row.
Russell Westbrook’s debut for the Los Angeles Clippers was memorable. The Clippers lost 175-176 to the Sacramento Kings after double overtime. Only once in NBA history has there been a game with more points – in December 1983, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Denver Nuggets after three overtimes by a score of 186-184.
Monk and Fox above 40 points
For the Kings, Malik Monk with 45 points and De’Aaron Fox with 42 points were the best pitchers, Kawhi Leonard scored 44 points for the Clippers. Up until two weeks ago, Westbrook was still playing for city rivals Los Angeles Lakers and was sent to the Utah Jazz shortly before the end of the transfer period, where his contract was terminated after just a few days and without being played. Now he started his debut for the Clippers and has 17 points and 14 assists.
Klay Thompson set an NBA record in his Golden State Warriors’ 116:101 against the Houston Rockets: Thompson was the first player in NBA history to convert at least twelve three-pointers for the second time in a season.
