Kothamangalam: A father drowned while bathing in a river with his three children on his wedding anniversary. The deceased has been identified as Abi K Aliyar, 42, of Kurumattukudi, Inchoor. The tragedy that saddened the country was while trying to save his son who was drowning while bathing in the Kozhipilly river.
His son Ameer (12) was rescued by Reji, a civil defense member of the Kothamangalam Fire Brigade, who had come to bathe in the river at this time. He also tried to save Abby but was drowned. The incident took place at 11.50 am on Tuesday near the Inchoor check dam.
Shibu P. Joseph, PM Shanavas and Vishnu Mohan, members of the Kothamangalam Fire Brigade, rushed to the spot and rushed Abi to the Kothamangalam Dharmagiri Hospital but could not save him.
