Bayern’s new signing Nestory Irankunda expressed despair over his own performance after being substituted in the Adelaide United game against Brisbane Roar (0-2), even causing concern among fans and experts.
The winger, who was considered a super talent and whose signing was announced by FCB in November, had to leave the pitch after just over an hour. Cameras captured the young Australian pulling his jersey over his head and shaking his head repeatedly. Later, tears could be seen in the youngster’s eyes before he buried his face in his hands.
“He is under enormous pressure, he is the great hope of Australian football. One must not forget that he is only 17 years old and still going through puberty. He has a lot of emotions and a lot of pressure to deal with,” Irish professional Roy O’Donovan, who earns his living as a player and assistant coach at Australian club Sydney Olympic, told Channel 10.
The professional stated: “He didn’t handle it well today, he didn’t handle it well a few weeks ago. He definitely needs someone to put an arm around his shoulder. I think it would be better if he got a little time off.”

“You can see he’s not ready yet. If he wants to make it in international football, he has to learn to deal with his emotions. We all want to see him at his best, but to do that he needs to be clear-headed. Luckily he has people around him who can help him through it,” explained the former professional and trainer.
“He’s a huge talent, a mega-talent, but everything happens very quickly with him,” O’Donovan added afterwards: “He’s someone who needs a strong team around him.
So far, the aspiring Bayern player has appeared in six A-League games and scored one goal and is sixth in the table with Adelaide.
