Young stars like Yashaswi Jaiswal, Tilak Verma and Mukesh Kumar, who shone in the IPL, have made it to the T20 team while Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have retained their place. Suryakumar Yadav is the vice captain. This is also the first Indian squad to be announced after former India player Ajit Agarkar took charge as the BCCI chief selector.
Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Josh Khan returned to the team while Mohammad Shami was also rested in the T20 squad. While Umran Malik returned to the T20 team, spinner Ravi Bishnoi also returned to the team. Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are also spinners in the team.
After the Test and ODI series, the five-T20I series against the West Indies will begin on August 3. Other matches are on August 6, 8, 12 and 13. The last two T20s will be played in Florida, USA.
