Since it was announced that work was being done on Barbie’s live action, there has been little information about it, since it is still unknown what the tape will be about; However, this Tuesday they gave a small preview of what the iconic doll will look like.
This will be played by Australian actress Margot Robbie, who has played roles like Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’. Thus, during the Cinema Con event, released a photograph of her characterized as Barbie.
In the picture, the actress can be seen inside a pink convertible, in what appears to be Barbie’s Malibu dream home. Besides, Margot wears a blue striped blouse combined with a 70s-style bandana in her hair.
This photograph is also the first image of the live action, after years of setbacks and abandonment by the cast, since before Margot Robbie, Amy Schumer had been chosen to give life to the most famous doll, but withdrew from the project.
Despite the fact that until now the main plot of the film is unknown, it is known that it will not be the typical story presented in the other films of the doll, since Margot Robbie promised an unexpected and unusual project.
The actress will not only play the leading role, but will also produce through her company LuckyChap Entertainment, along with Greta Gerwig, who is the filmmaker. in charge of the project and who has participated in films like ‘Lady Bird’.
Other actors confirmed for the film include Ryan Gosling as Barbie’s boyfriend Ken; actor Simu Liu, whose role is still unknown; as well as Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey and America Ferrera. The premiere is expected to be on July 23, 2023.
