Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a loyal ally of Moscow, is visiting China on Sunday and Monday to meet his counterpart Xi Jinping, the Belarusian presidency announced. On Monday, he will meet with Xi Jinping with, on the agenda, questions of “trade, economy, investment and international cooperation”, indicated the Belarusian side in a press release on Sunday, without specifying whether Mr. Lukashenko had already arrived in Beijing.

Alexander Lukashenko had already visited the Chinese capital from the end of February to the beginning of March, a visit which had been highly scrutinized in the context of the Russian offensive in Ukraine. However, this subject has not yet been mentioned by the Belarusian presidency among the themes that will be discussed during the visit.
