“2024 is the momentum for us“, declared PTB president Raoul Hedebouw on Sunday during the party’s greetings in Anderlecht. “With you, we will put pressure on for real changes. Because change is necessary“, he told the activists.
“I’m feeling hot,” Raoul Hedebouw told us at the end of his thirty-minute speech. The assembly of 300 activists, many of them young people, came to listen to him.
Is the party ready to join a majority? Yes, but under certain conditions. But could he join forces with the president of the N-VA (who aims to become prime minister)? (pardon ?)“, he said, eliciting boos from the activists. “We pay taxes even when we do our shopping, and it is higher than the percentage of taxes paid by the Colruyt group“, he observed, asking to eliminate VAT on food products and basic necessities. “It’s common sense“.

The president of the communists attacked the liberals, but also the socialists – “who don’t care about the world” – as well as the Flemish nationalists of the N-VA and Vlaams Belang “who eats from the hands of the super-rich“.

For Raoul Hedebouw, 2024 will be the time to confirm at the ballot box the voting intentions in the polls, which give the party as the 2nd or 3rd political force in the Chamber. “We must achieve this in the weeks and months to come.
