The International Opera Awards have revealed the shortlist of nominees for this 2023 edition and among them, we find in particular the Belgian soprano Jodie Devos, nominated in the solo recordings category. Furthermore, La Monnaie’s social and environmental commitment earned it two nominations this year, in the “Sustainability” and “Equal Opportunities & Impact” categories.
The true Oscars of the international opera world, the International Opera Awards have released the list of nominees for the sixteen categories which will reward, once again this year, the best artists and the most innovative productions on the international scene. And among the nominees, Belgium is well represented, first of all by Jodie Devos, whose disc “Bijoux perdus”, released by Alpha, is nominated in the Solo recordings category. A record that Jodie Devos recorded with the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Pierre Bleuse. This recording sits alongside those of Cyrille Debois, Javier Camarena, Lisette Oropesa, Marina Viotti and Sonya Yoncheva, also in the running in this category.
It is not the only Belgian to be part of the shortlist for this 2023 edition. La Monnaie is also named in two categories, which underline the societal commitments of the Brussels opera institution. Indeed, we find it in the Sustainability category, which rewards an opera or a collective for its environmental commitment. For over 20 years now, La Monnaie has integrated environmental thinking into its operations and continues its reflection to integrate sustainability both in its production and in its general activities.
La Monnaie is also named in the “Equal Opportunities & Impact“, which highlights the work and social commitment carried out by La Monnaie, in particular the framework of our social program”A bridge between two worlds“.
The names of the winners of the different categories will be revealed on November 9, during a ceremony to be held at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw.
