Belgium Weather Forecast: Yellow Alerts for Slippery Conditions and Freezing Fog

Two yellow alerts were reported by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) for this Thursday morning. A warning of slippery conditions will apply from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the provinces of Liège, Luxembourg, West Flanders, East Flanders, Antwerp and Limburg. The other alert on freezing fog which could reduce visibility to less than 200m between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the provinces of Walloon and Flemish Brabant, Brussels, West Flanders, East Flanders, Antwerp, Limburg, and the Coast.

After the risk of slippery conditions in the morning, the weather will be rather dry on Thursday, with clearings especially in the north of the country. The end of the day will however be marked by a risk of further winter precipitation in the east and south-east of the country, forecasts the IRM. The maxima will be between 0 and 4°C under a weak to moderate easterly wind returning to the northeast.

This evening and tonight, the area of ​​precipitation, which will give snow above approximately 300 meters of altitude, will drag on the south of the country before leaving us towards Germany and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . The minimums will oscillate between -5 or -6°C in the Hautes-Fagnes valleys and 0°C in Belgian Lorraine. The wind will generally be light, variable direction or from the northeast.

On Friday, gray weather in the form of low clouds or freezing fog will be quite widespread in the morning, except in the regions located to the south of the Ardennes Massif where beautiful clearings will already be present. In the afternoon, the gray weather could continue, particularly over a large central part of the country, while clearings will return in the north of the territory. The weather is expected to remain dry. It will be quite cold with maximums of -5 degrees in the Hautes-Fagnes to 0 or +1 degree by the sea and in Gaume.

On Saturday, gray weather in the form of low clouds or freezing fog will again be quite widespread in the morning. The sun will then make some beautiful appearances. The weather will remain dry in most regions, but some occasional wintry showers from the North Sea may spill over into the coastal region. The maxima will vary between -4 degrees in the upper Ardennes and +5 degrees in the coastal region.
