Berlin – He just wanted to grab his football in the schoolyard – and fell into a six meter deep shaft!

Louis P. (13, name changed) played football with his friends in the playground of the Georg Weerth School on Eckertstraße last Wednesday at around 10:30 a.m.

The ball landed in a corner of the yard. On a metal cover, behind a fence about three feet high. The student stepped on the plate – it suddenly gave way. The 13-year-old fell into the shaft and remained motionless on the ground.

Two social workers noticed the incident and rescued the seriously injured man using a ladder. The fire brigade brought the boy to the Vivantes Clinic. He had suffered a large open wound in his left thigh, from which rusty metal parts had to be operated on. And the spine was severely compressed by the impact.

The police are now investigating negligent bodily harm by omission ex officio. On Monday, the crime scene squad of the LKA examined the shaft. The officials have also informed the school and building inspectorate. Why wasn’t this area of ​​the school secured?

BILD reporters asked the secretariat. There it was only said that the accident was self-inflicted. There was no comment from the director.
