Berlusconi is in intensive care due to a new health problem

According to a source close to the former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, the latter was transferred to the hospital due to a heart problem.

And the French Press Agency quoted the source as saying that Berlusconi, 86, was transferred to the intensive care unit in the cardiac surgery department at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, northern Italy, confirming information published by Italian media.

Berlusconi has assumed the premiership 4 times since 1990, and has dominated public life for years through his media and sports empire.

He was excluded from the Senate in November 2013 following his conviction on charges of tax evasion, and he was prevented from participating in parliamentary elections for six years, but he was elected to the European Parliament in 2019.

Berlusconi has suffered from a number of health problems in the past few years and was released from hospital last week.

Berlusconi underwent major heart surgery in 2016 and is also suffering from prostate cancer.

The hospital did not immediately respond to a request for comment, while the Italian news agency AGI reported that Berlusconi was in an intensive care unit for heart disease, according to Archyde.com, while the Associated Press said he had a lung disease.
