The choice fell on Nadiia Sadova at the Wels Campus for Technology and Applied Natural Sciences. Her work focused on bioactive plant substances that have a positive effect on the intestinal health of humans and animals. Because the intestines of humans and fruit flies have a similar structure, she researched the insects and found that wood lignans, grape seed polyphenols and citrus flavanones have a promising effect on protecting the intestinal barrier.
