Beware of straightening hair..a kind of cancer awaits!

In news that may come as a thunderbolt to all women who care about straightening their hair, an extensive American study revealed that hair care products may significantly raise the risk of uterine cancer among those who use them permanently.

According to the study, which was conducted under the supervision of the National Institutes of Health in the United States and published its results on Monday, that the risk does exist.

This research included about 33,000 women in all US states over a period of more than 10 years, their ages ranged between 35 and 74 years.

The study also showed that the incidence of endometrial cancer was more than 4% for women who used hair-smoothing products 4 or more times a year, compared to 1.64% for those who did not use these products, according to the newspaper “The Guardian”.

She confirmed that nearly 60% of the female users of hair-smoothing products were dark-skinned, who are characterized by curly hair, and therefore they are the group most at risk of developing uterine cancer.

Serious illness

It is noteworthy that cervical cancer is one of the uncommon diseases in America, as it constitutes 3% of the types of cancer that affect women.

However, there are fears of an increase in the number of infections, as the American Society of Clinical Oncology reported a while ago that approximately 81% of uterine cancer patients live for at least 5 years after the disease is diagnosed.
