The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of Jose Pezero as the new coach of the national team, six weeks following the appointment of the Portuguese national football team The resignation of former coach Agustin Iguafuen, and his two assistants.

The NFF confirmed, in a statement, that the contract will be with immediate effect pending the signing of the contract terms, and Bezero will be supported by a technical staff that includes former Nigerian international strikers Fenidi George, Ike Churonmo and Salisu Yusuf.

According to the statement, the new coach will lead the “Super Eagles” team in the next two friendlies with Mexico and Ecuador in America, following he left his position as coach of the Venezuelan national team last August due to not receiving his salary for a year.
