US President Joe Biden spoke negatively about Russian President Vladimir Putin during a campaign fundraiser in San Francisco, Reuters reports.
In a speech to a small group of donors, Biden said the threat of nuclear conflict is always there, but climate remains the existential threat to humanity.
“The latest existential threat is climate. We have a crazy son of a bitch, this guy Putin, and others. And we should always worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate,” Biden said.
“I can say that such boorish statements from the mouth of the head of the United States are unlikely to somehow offend the head of another state, especially President Putin. But this is a huge shame for the country itself, for the USA. If the president of such a country uses such language, it should be a shame,” commented Biden’s statement by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov. He said that the US leader was “demonstrating behavior in the style of a Hollywood cowboy” in favor of domestic political interests.
Biden, come on notes CNN also criticized former US President Donald Trump, who compared his legal problems to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“He compares himself to Navalny and says that because our country became communist, he was persecuted, just like Navalny. Where the hell does this come from,” Biden said (quoted by CNN). The US President added that if he had said this 10-15 years ago, everyone would have thought that he needed to be isolated from society.
This isn’t the first time Joe Biden has used the term “son of a bitch” in public. In January 2022, the US President called Fox News journalist Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” when he tried to ask a question about inflation at a meeting between Biden and his economic advisers. The incident was broadcast on American television channels. Doocy later said that an hour after the incident, Biden contacted him by phone and apologized.
Joe Biden said earlier in February that Vladimir Putin was responsible for the death of Alexei Navalny in a colony above the Arctic Circle. Navalny’s associates believe that the politician was killed.
