Binance reserves of XRP dropped by 220 million tokens within a two-day window ending October 30, plunging exchange-held balances to 2.47 billion coins—the lowest level recorded since December 2022, according to data from CryptoQuant reported by CoinPro.ch on X.
Massive Exodus from Major Exchanges
The sudden drain on Binance represents an 8.18 percent reduction in just two days, falling from 2.69 billion tokens on October 28. This movement is not isolated to a single platform. CoinPro.ch reported that Bybit reserves contracted from approximately 306 million down to 286 million XRP over the exact same period, while Bithumb holdings dipped from 1.847 billion to 1.837 billion tokens.
Altogether, roughly 250 million XRP vanished from those three trading venues combined. Yet, platform-wide behavior diverges significantly across the broader market. Upbit’s inventory actually ticked upward from 6.42 billion to 6.44 billion tokens during those two days, ruling out a uniform, ecosystem-wide exodus.
The Decoupling of Falling Reserves and Price Action
Shrinking exchange reserves typically signal accumulation, suggesting that retail or institutional holders are migrating their assets into cold storage or private wallets to restrict immediate market liquidity. However, this supply contraction has failed to catalyze a corresponding bullish price response. XRP recently traded around $1.24, remaining under sustained downward pressure despite the sudden disappearance of hundreds of millions of tokens.
Adding to the conflicting market signals, institutional demand remains weak. XRP exchange-traded funds recorded net outflows of approximately $496,000 on October 30. Massive tokens are leaving centralized exchanges, but spot prices lack the buying momentum required for a sustained recovery.
The Binance Security Context
Timing complicates the liquidity shift. Binance has been operating under intense regulatory and public scrutiny following a massive cyberattack on October 29. The exchange reported that token assets valued at approximately $6.3 billion were compromised, prompting a temporary freeze on user withdrawals. While public attention is fixated on the security breach and upcoming Proof-of-Reserves disclosures, CoinPro.ch noted that no direct causal link between the hack and the multi-million token XRP outflow has been officially established.
Traders face an unresolved puzzle. The liquidity leaving major trading hubs could point toward long-term accumulation, yet the lack of spot price appreciation and the shadow of recent exchange vulnerabilities leave the true destination and intent behind the moving tokens entirely unconfirmed.
