Final Fantasy XIV Evercold Delayed to February 2027 With New Zephyr Job

Square Enix has delayed the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold by four weeks, pushing the launch from January 2027 to February 23, 2027. Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold would originally appear somewhere in January 2027, as was announced in April of this year during the North American FFXIV Fan Fest at the initial unveiling of the expansion. Players who purchase the expansion early access pass will be able to play starting on February 19, 2027. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced the revised schedule during the FFXIV Fan Fest in Japan, where developers also debuted a fully cinematic intro trailer for the upcoming content.

New Jobs and Gameplay Additions in Version 8.0

The expansion marks the game’s transition to version 8.0, bringing significant structural updates alongside two new combat roles. Players purchasing Evercold gain access to the Zephyr, a ranged DPS job that utilizes a crossbow alongside a supportive winged companion. IGN Benelux reported that the update also introduces a second new job named Bastion, operating as a Tank class. Alongside these mechanical additions, the patch introduces a new world, a continuation of the main narrative, and crossover raid series featuring Neon Genesis Evangelion and Final Fantasy VII.

Pre-Order Bonuses and Collector Packages

Pre-orders for Evercold open on November 4, 2026. Buyers who secure the expansion early receive the Wind-up Kottr minion and Halone’s Earring, an in-game item designed to boost earned experience points for jobs under level 100. IGN Benelux noted that the digital collector’s edition includes the Valhallar Odin mount, the Entreat Crystal emote, and the Crystal Skyltborg, which looks like a glam appearance for the weapons of the new Bastion Job. The physical collector’s bundle contains the Evercold art book, the Tapestry of the Fourth decoration, a Kottr plush, an Ethos Metal keychain, and a Reaper figure of the Warrior of Light.
