“It’s great to see an ever-increasing group of citizens participating in this spring celebration every year, and this year the event is made meaningful by the choice of Ventės horn as the main place for raising nests – a real capital of birds. In this unique place of Lithuania, together with the Pomeranian community and ornithologists, today we raised dozens of nests and donated an exceptional feeder, as a symbol that foresters take care of birds in all seasons”, says VMU head Valdas Kaubrė.

Together with foresters and local residents, we raised 60 nests in Ventės Raga.

“I am glad that this day dedicated to birds did not pass by Ventės horn this year. Together with foresters and local residents, we raised 60 nests in Ventės Raga, where starlings, titmice, many-winged flycatchers, red-tails, and buzzards will live,” said Vytautas Jusys, head of the Ventės Raga ornithological station.

In commemoration of the meaningful campaign, an exclusive, unique bird feeder decorated with VMU style was installed and unveiled in Ventės Raga, which will delight not only the birds visiting Ventės Raga, but also the visitors of this region. During the celebration, Bronislovas Ambrozas, the head of the Tauragė regional branch, shared stories about the nests, Vytautas Jusys, the head of the Ventės horn ornithological station, captured the attention with his stories about the birds and demonstrated the ringing process, and Romas Gečas, the head of the Šilutė regional branch of VMU, together with the foresters, accompanied the guests to raise the nests.

Welcoming spring, foresters and the public raised thousands of nests throughout the country, which will become a safe home for golden birds nesting in Lithuania. However, raising nests is spring work

does not end. Soon, foresters will invite everyone to express their love for nature by planting trees in the National Forestry.
