Birthday Driver Causes Crash in Kiskunhalas

Sirens ripped through the night in Kiskunhalas on Saturday as emergency crews rushed to the scene of a violent two-car collision. Five people were involved in the crash at the intersection of Széchenyi and Batthyány streets. Three were hospitalized, their conditions undisclosed but serious enough to require immediate transport, BAON reported.

Firefighters worked to de-energize the mangled vehicles, a hazardous task to prevent potential fires. The intersection was a chaotic tableau of twisted metal and emergency lights. The disaster management authority confirmed the critical nature of their intervention, securing the scene before investigators could begin their work.

The Birthday Driver’s Erratic Maneuver

One vehicle, descending from an overpass, attempted a turn onto Main Road 53. In the maneuver, the driver cut sharply in front of a car approaching from the left. The vehicle then crossed a solid white line, plunging into the path of an oncoming car and triggering the violent impact.

Suspicions Mount at the Crash Site

Police arrived to find the driver of the primary vehicle, who was reportedly celebrating a birthday. A complicating factor emerged: the license plate on the car was registered to a completely different vehicle, adding a layer of potential legal malfeasance to the investigation.

Traffic Halts as Investigation Begins

With the scene secured, traffic police began a meticulous reconstruction of the crash. The intersection was reduced to a single lane, forcing a detour for local drivers as officers marked and photographed the wreckage.

The Road Ahead for the Investigation

The legal consequences hinge on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. Authorities have not released the names of those involved, but the case file is growing.
