The Pope appointed a new ordinary of the Sosnowiec diocese. It was Bishop Artur Ważny, former auxiliary bishop in Tarnów.

Bishop Ważny was born in 1966 in Rzeszów. He prepared for the priesthood at the Major Seminary in Tarnów. He was ordained a priest in 1991. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in pastoral theology at the Cardinal University. Stefan Wyszyński in Warsaw. In his diocese, he was responsible, among other things, for the pastoral care of youth and students, new evangelization and the ongoing formation of priests.
On December 12, 2020, Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in Tarnów. He was ordained a bishop on June 30, 2021. He is the chairman of the Team for New Evangelization at the Pastoral Commission of the Polish Episcopal Conference. He is also a member of the Youth Ministry Council of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
