St. Pölten (OTS) – In many encounters with the faithful in the diocese of St. Pölten, Bishop Alois Schwarz has made it clear how strong the commitment and voluntary work of women and men, young people and children is within the church.

“Catholic Action plays a significant role in our effort to actively bring the faith into society and to accompany people in their spiritual growth. We want to make sure that we give the best possible attention to the concerns and needs of the faithful and a close connection between the diocese and Catholic Action”, stressed the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Pölten.

Due to the social changes and the associated church challenges, it is not only in the Diocese of St. Pölten that it is necessary to consider how the services for the believers in the various groups of Catholic Action can be reorganized and coordinated. At the same time, the bishop also keeps an eye on the jobs of the employees within the diocese.

In discussions with those responsible for Catholic Action, the bishop always tries to invest in necessary measures for initiatives and projects of the various sub-institutions of Catholic Action. This should create synergies and further strengthen the pastoral work in the diocese. The strengthening of the cooperation with the Catholic Action takes place against the background of the growing importance of the lay apostolate in today’s time. Bishop Schwarz is convinced that Catholic Action is a valuable platform to support believers in their commitment to the faith and to promote Christian values in various areas of life.

For the bishop, therefore, the needs of the faithful come first. It is important to work together to promote faith and build a lively and active community, participation and mission in the spirit of the synodal church and to accompany people in all situations.
