The case of the forced termination of the pregnancy of the 19-year-old woman in Zakynthos, for which her partner has been arrested, is developing into a thriller for strong nerves, and next Monday he will be taken to the investigator in order to apologize.
The police and judicial authorities of Zakynthos have been trying for the last few hours to assemble all the pieces of the puzzle in order to shed light on every dark aspect of the case.
The countdown to the heinous incident that has shocked the whole of Greece began last Tuesday night (2/20/2024). The 27-year-old alleged perpetrator is accused of taking the 19-year-old to his home. There he tied her up and then forced her to take two pills orally and one vaginally in order to induce a chemical abortion of the fetus. The girl’s partner was arrested by the police and taken to the public prosecutor, who charged him with a felony for the termination of pregnancy.
The 27-year-old, who will be detained until next Monday at the Zakynthos Security detention center, as he has been given a deadline until then to apologize, declares that he is innocent and that he has not committed any of the acts that his 19-year-old partner has accused them of. In fact, both they, as well as people from his friendly environment, put the blame on the young girl’s family circle and claim that her relatives are behind her abortion.
They testify grandmother and aunt
According to information, the grandmother and aunt of the 19-year-old will testify today to the investigator as part of the investigation being conducted into the case, while it is possible that other relatives and friends of both the 19-year-old and the alleged perpetrator will pass by the courthouse of Zakynthos . Although the young lady gave a statement in which she describes in every detail what happened last Tuesday night, it is possible that some further explanations will be needed. Among other things, what seems to have caused questions are her answers to the hospital doctors, as according to information the young lady told them that she was miscarrying, however, she did not explain to them in detail how. Of course, her refusal to give the slightest explanation may also be due to the threats she received, as she claims, from her foreign partner, in order to keep her mouth shut.
The active pills
Regarding now the drugs that may have been administered, but also the hours needed to cause the abortion of the fetus, these are given by pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription. As experts inform newsit.gr, the most common pills used in these cases are preparations containing the active substance misoprostol. They work in a few hours and are successful in terminating pregnancy in the order of 85%. The other drugs taken to terminate pregnancy in most cases cause gradual necrosis of the fetus which may take up to 36 hours and then proceed to abortion. In the second case, a prescription is required and it is not as easy a process as the first.
