Bogotá: due to lack of medical care, a one-year-old baby died in Patio Bonito – Bogotá

Around 6 p.m. on Monday, he died. Somer Salome Mahecha Rios, a baby of one year, four months and three days. According to her parents, her death is due to the fact that she did not receive adequate medical attention, since the minor had stated that she had felt ill since three in the morning and she was taken to the Pretty Patio Camibut there they told her that she was fine.

According to Jasbleidy Ríos, the minor’s mother, the day before Somer Salomé was in charge of her grandmother, Johana Rodríguez, since both she and her husband were working.

Ríos assures that the girl was fine, played and was active, had taken a bottle and ate well, but at dawn the girl began to complain that her stomach hurt. “In the early morning my mother got ready and went with my baby to Cami de Patio Bonito, she tells me that the doctor checked the girl in general and took her blood pressure, but said she had nothing,” she said.

The minor’s grandmother told EL TIEMPO that the doctor on duty at that time also checked her throat and told her that she was suddenly going to get the flu, but that everything else was normal, that this was just a rebound and that he was going to give him an authorization to make an appointment with pediatrics.

The appointment with a specialist was able to take her out immediately, however, the girl continued to feel bad during the day and vomited twice, so her parents decided to take her back to the health center in the afternoon.

“The girl looked very sick, we arrived at Cami and they left my girl on a stretcher, two nurses arrive and tell me that the girl said she no longer had vital signs, so with my husband we asked them for help to help us revive her, that they the girl was still with her eyes open, she was moving her hands and she was alive,” said the girl’s mother.

However, despite the pleas of the minor’s parents to the health personnel who were present at the time, they were told that it was not possible because they were already changing shifts, that the CTI was already going to go and they took the mother of the minor in the room where the girl was.

After the unfortunate events, the police arrived and began to question the parents. At the moment, the relatives of the minor are waiting for the autopsy to be able to file the complaint.

The District Health Secretariat, in compliance with its inspection, surveillance and control powers, will have a commission that will verify the health care received by the minor at the Patio Bonito Health Center of the Sur Occidente Subnetwork and the follow-up to protocols and/or guides.

“Despite all the efforts of the Health Center team, unfortunately the minor died. In accordance with the protocols, the South West Subnet reported the case to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences for the transfer of the body. This authority will determine the causes of death,” says the statement from the entity.
