Boston bombings: second suspect arrested

– Suspect still at large. Djokhar Tsarnaïev, 19, is still at large. Her brother, Tamerlan, 26, was killed last night. Both are suspected of being responsible for Monday’s deadly attacks. Of Chechen origin, the brothers had immigrated to the United States in 2003, an uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, said on Friday, saying he was “ashamed” at the idea that they could have been involved in the attacks that left three people dead and nearly 180 injured Monday in Boston. And he appealed to his youngest nephew, asking him to “surrender and ask for forgiveness”, if he was still alive.

– Boston, ghost town. The population of Boston and its suburbs – about a million people – spent the day locked up in their homes, by order of the authorities. All public transport was stopped, shops and schools closed, all overflights prohibited. Trains did not run between New York and Boston. However, the governor announced that people can now leave their homes and attempt to return to normal life, while remaining vigilant. The police will continue their patrols.

– 9000 men on his heels. Thousands of helmeted police officers, in combat gear, some posted on the roofs, checked house after house the streets of Watertown, in the western suburbs of Boston, where the hunt for the two brothers had taken place during the night, in a spectacular acceleration of the investigation.
