Bouna Sarr (Senegal) withdrawal from the World Cup

Bouna Sarr will not play the first World Cup of his career at the end of the fall (November 20-December 18). The 30-year-old Bayern Munich player will undergo knee surgery on Tuesday to repair his patellar tendon.

The right side suffers from a recurring and painful discomfort which has handicapped him for two good seasons. After playing just five Bundesliga games last season at Bayern Munich, he hasn’t played a single minute this year.

The former Marseillais will not return to the field until early 2023 and will not compete in the World Cup with Senegal. The one who has 13 caps with the Teranga Lions started on the right flank of the defense during the last victorious CAN, at the start of 2022.
