BPDPKS Encourages GenSawit to Get Rid of the Negative Stigma of the Palm Oil Industry – 2024-03-27 23:37:34

The younger generation is encouraged to contribute and be directly involved in growing and developing the palm oil industry in Indonesia.

Director of Planning and Fund Management of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) Kabul Wijayanto said that the palm oil industry has so far contributed greatly to the national economy. Kabul hopes that the GenSawit Talkshow will be able to encourage the younger generation to contribute.

“We hope that this is the start of positive things that continue to be instilled and grown, as well as removing the negative stigma about palm oil which in fact is not necessarily true. Hopefully this will be of benefit to our country today and one day in the future,” said Kabul Wijayanto at the GenSawit event. BPDPKS is one of the Public Service Agencies under the Directorate General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance which is responsible for the disbursement of funds from palm oil export levies.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sumatra DJPb Regional Office, Syukriah said, to face Golden Indonesia 2045, the current young generation will be the successors to the development of palm oil into a multipurpose commodity and beneficial for all.

Because, according to Syukriah, palm oil has great potential for Indonesia’s progress. He is confident that in the future palm oil will become an exporter for the younger generations who will advance it.

“Hopefully this event will open up our way of thinking, change the mindset of the younger generation to be actively involved in advancing palm oil, especially in West Sumatra,” said Syukriah.

Meanwhile, the Head of the BPDPKS Corporate Division, Achmad Maulizal Sutawijaya, explained how his agency is improving farmers’ welfare, stabilizing CPO prices, and strengthening downstream industries.

“We want to improve the performance of the palm oil sector in Indonesia, where our important role today is very dependent on the success of palm oil in the future,” explained Achmad.

In line with this, the Head of the BPDPKS Service Program Division, Arfie Thahar, said that Indonesia is the world’s palm oil king, becoming the center of production and demand for vegetable oil in the world.

As the world’s largest palm oil producer, Indonesia hopes to produce more than 50 million tonnes of palm oil by 2025.

Apart from that, the Executive Director of PASPI, Tungkot Sipayung, explained that the production process for plantations and the palm oil industry has very high commodities.

Tungkot added that palm oil is the most important oil sustainable Of the 4 vegetable oils in the world (palm oil, soybean oil, rapeseed, sunflower oil), palm oil is the only oil with the lowest emissions.

“The damage to biodiesel is also the lowest. It is appropriate that other vegetable oils attack palm oil, because they are inferior in quality, inferior in price, increasingly under pressure, negative campaigns are being created against palm oil,” stressed Tungkot.
