With a public funeral service, the people in Bramsche commemorate the 16 and 19-year-olds who were killed today. The people of the city are shocked by the deeds.
A non-denominational and inter-religious memorial service is planned for this evening at 7 p.m. in the evangelical St. Martin Church. A spokeswoman for the community confirmed this to the NDR. The celebration will begin with a minute’s silence. In addition to the Christian churches, the Turkish-Islamic community in Bramsche will also take part. The public commemoration will be organized together with the city of Bramsche. A condolence book should also be available on site, a city spokesman told the NDR in Lower Saxony. Everyone should also have the opportunity to light a candle. Classmates of the 16-year-old chose songs for the commemoration. According to Superintendent Joachim G. Cierpka from Bramsche, there will also be a pin-on button at the memorial service with the inscription “Action for fellow human beings in Bramsche”. It is intended for everyone who wants to show publicly: “We want more social awareness,” says Cierpka.
Classmates mourn 16-year-olds at IGS Bramsche
The city had previously announced a corresponding commemoration. “Everyone you talk to is very concerned,” said Mayor Heiner Pahlmann (SPD) on Tuesday. A citizen spoke of a “leaden heaviness” that weighed on everyone. The 16-year-old victim was mourned at the IGS Bramsche on Thursday. Almost all of the 550 students took part. Family members were also invited to the funeral service.
16-year-old and 19-year-old were victims of violent crime
At the beginning of last week, an 81-year-old shot a 16-year-old and injured him so badly that the teenager died on Wednesday as a result of his injuries. An arrest warrant for murder and attempted manslaughter was issued against the 81-year-old. On the following Sunday morning, a 19-year-old was found seriously injured near a shooting range in the Pente district of Bramsch. In the hospital, only the death of the young woman could be determined. A 20-year-old was arrested at his home a few hours later. Investigators are also investigating whether the young woman was the victim of a sex crime.
