The Celtics are apparently on the verge of bringing the possibly missing piece of the puzzle to Boston to win the championship. According to Shams Charania, three teams are preparing a mega deal that would send Kristaps Porzingis to the Celts.
As The Athletic’s Charania reported, the Celtics, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers are working flat out on a deal that would bring Porzingis from Washington to Boston.
The Celtcis would send Malcolm Brogdon, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, to LA and the Clippers would send Marcus Morris to Washington. In addition, the Wizards should receive draft picks as compensation.
Last Sunday the Wizards already traded their biggest star, Bradley Beal, to Phoenix.
The Celtics have been title contenders for the past two seasons. 2022 only ended in the finals against Golden State (2-4), last season Boston disappointed in the conference finals against outsiders Miami Heat.
Porzingis has played in the NBA for the New York Knicks, the Dallas Mavericks and, since 2022, for the Wizards. The 27-year-old Latvian, who was a 2018 All-Star, has averaged 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in his career so far.
Porzingis is entering the final year of his contract, which will see him earn $36 million in 2023/24.
