Berlin ∙ Ethiopia’s Tyjust Asifa broke the world record in the women’s marathon. The record performance of the Ethiopian star was in the Berlin Marathon. Twenty-seven-year-old Asifa finished the 42.2 km race in 2 hours 11 minutes 53 seconds. The record was set by Brigid Kosge of Kenya in 2019 (2 hours 14 minutes 4 seconds). Asifa also qualified for next year’s Olympics with a record performance.
