2023-05-09 18:21:00

For the first time in the 2023/24 season, only female directors will stage in the Big House of the Schauspiel Frankfurt.

A women’s quota of 100 percent, if you look at straight theater, in the 2023/24 season in the Great House of the drama Frankfurt adhered to – and in the Kammerspiele only two directors staged. Artistic Director Anselm Weber does not want to associate a program or “ideological thoughts” with this. The programming came about through long-standing good working relationships.

Mateja Koležnik, who has been invited to this year’s Theatertreffen and has already appeared in Frankfurt with Yvonne, the Burgundy Princess and Hedda Gabler, opens the season with Molière’s Der Miser; With Virginia Woolfe’s “Orlando”, Jessica Glause also devotes herself to a character that transcends times, as does Johanna Wehner with “Dracula”. Time also plays a role in Christina Rast’s Christmas family play “Momo”, even in “Würgeengel”, with which Claudia Bauer wants to adapt another Buñuel film after “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie”. Felicitas Brucker will take on “Don Carlos” and Laura Linnenbaum, who once graduated from the Directing Studio, will be back with “The Brothers Karamazov”.
