Marella Explorer 2, a British cruise ship that had docked in Cuba before, did so again this weekend. Right in the port of Havana, visitors were welcomed.
The event was immediately celebrated by Cuba. “This is a step forward in the recovery of tourism on the Island.” This was reflected in a publication in X by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez to refer to the issue.
This type of visits generally enhances city tourism through the main historical sites of Havana.

Marella Explorer 2, in Cuba from 2022
This cruise ship, Marella Explorer 2, belongs to Marella Cruises Restricted and is part of the TUIGroup consortium fleet. Cuba was included among her routes through the Caribbean since March 2022.
The ship arrived earlier in Cuba on December 16 of last year. In January of the current course she returned with 1,700 visitors. This is a variant that the tourism sector on the Island has adopted, especially during the winter months. The current period is an ideal period for the arrival of international tourism, which is why this stage is established each year as the “peak of tourism.”
The ship was launched in 1995 and was refitted in April 2006. It is an adults-only ship with capacity for more than two thousand passengers and in its 246 meters of length it has several spa services. It also boasts a club-casino, bars and restaurants, among other luxuries.
In 2023 it anchored several times in Cuba as part of a route called Flavors of the Caribbean that has a one-week itinerary.
